Kimia Shamsian

Hello! I’m Kimia Shamsian, a junior with a major in Biology and a minor in Psychology. I am interested in Neuroscience, specifically in the science behind an individual’s behavior and the causes of various mental health illnesses like anxiety and depression. My educational goals include continuing my education journey after my undergraduate studies and moving on to either Medical school or Graduate school. For career goals, I would enjoy bettering the mental health of underserved communities that don’t have access to health resources and education. Scientific and clinical research into the causes and possible treatments of mental health illness also serves as a possible career path for me. I became a mentor for Queens of STEAM because I want to give advice and guidance to women in high school who have doubts or concerns about entering the STEAM field. With this group, I’d like to show female students that it’s possible to be a successful woman in STEAM and that there is a place for them in the STEAM fields.
